Controller Pak Memory Card Nintendo 64 N64 Save Games

Nintendo 64 non oem, aftermarket Controller Pak. The Controller Pak is the official memory card used to store player data, high scores, and custom settings.

• Placement: It plugs directly into the slot on the back of the  N64 controller. Because it occupies this slot, players cannot use it simultaneously with the Rumble Pak without physically hot-swapping them.
• Storage Capacity: The standard OEM Nintendo version has 256 KB of battery-backed SRAM memory, which translates into exactly 123 "pages" of save data. Third-party variations offered larger multi-page banks controlled by manual switches.
• Purpose: Many first-party Nintendo games (like Super Mario 64) saved data directly onto an internal chip inside the game cartridge itself. However, third-party developers utilized the Controller Pak to reduce cartridge manufacturing costs. Games like the Turok series, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and various sports titles strictly require a Controller Pak to save your progress.
