Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django (originally released in Japan as Zoku Bokura no Taiyou) is a 2004 action role-playing video game developed and published by Konami for the Game Boy Advance. Produced by acclaimed creator Hideo Kojima, it is the direct sequel to Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand.
Core Gameplay & Mechanics
- Isometric Stealth: Played from an overhead, isometric viewpoint. Players must navigate treacherous dungeons, flatten against walls, and tap surfaces to distract undead enemies to sneak past them or execute sneak attacks.
- Expanded Arsenal: Unlike the first game's exclusive focus on the "Gun Del Sol" solar pistol, Django loses his gun early on. He relies on a new Solar Glove to wield melee weapons like swords, spears, and heavy hammers, or fight with bare fists.
- Solar Smithing: Players can use collected solar energy to forge and fuse together over 60 different weapons and items to create significantly more powerful variants.
- RPG Character Growth: Features deep RPG elements, allowing you to level up Django, manage stat points, utilize new magical enchantments, and exchange accumulated solar energy (SOL) as a currency at an in-game solar bank.
Story & Setting
The plot continues the dark, spaghetti-western-infused gothic horror fantasy adventure. Players control the young vampire hunter Django alongside his sunflower guide, Master Otenko. Together, they must protect the city of San Miguel from a powerful group of immortal vampires and demons.
