Danny Phantom: The Ultimate Enemy is a side-scrolling action beat 'em up released for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) in 2005. Developed by Altron and published by THQ, the game is a direct adaptation of the "The Ultimate Enemy" special episode from the Nickelodeon television series.
Gameplay Overview
Players take control of Danny Phantom to save Amity Park from a grim future where he has transformed into his evil older self, Dan Phantom.
- Combat & Mechanics: The game features fast-paced brawling where players must fight off waves of ghost clones across various locations from the show, culminating in boss battles against characters from the special.
- Dual Mode System: A strategic combat system requires players to switch between human form (Danny Fenton) and ghost form (Danny Phantom). Ghost powers consume a limited energy meter that can be recharged while in human mode.
- Levels: Gameplay alternates between ground-based action/platforming and flying shooter levels.
Paranormal Powers
The game recreates many of Danny’s signature abilities from the series:
- Ghostly Wail: Danny’s newest and most powerful ability, allowing him to emit destructive vocal waves.
- Intangibility: Phasing through walls and objects.
- Flight: Navigating environments and flying levels.
- Ghost Beams/Plasma Blasts: Standard energy projectiles fired in straight lines or erratic patterns.
Storyline
While studying for the Career Aptitude Test (C.A.T.), Danny is drawn into a time-traveling conflict involving Clockwork, the master of time. He discovers that cheating on the test triggers a chain of events leading to the death of his family and friends, eventually causing his ghost half to merge with Vlad Plasmius's ghost half to become the "Ultimate Enemy".
