Gameboy Advance non oem reproduction Grand Theft Auto video game cartridge. Game cartridge comes with a plastic protective case just like the picture shows.

Grand Theft Auto Advance (marketed simply as Grand Theft Auto) is a 2004 action-adventure game developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Rockstar Games for the Game Boy Advance. It serves as a prequel to Grand Theft Auto III, set in Liberty City one year before the events of that game.

Gameplay & Presentation

  • Perspective: The game utilizes a top-down, "birds-eye" view reminiscent of the original Grand Theft Auto and GTA 2.
  • World: It features an open-world recreation of Liberty City, modified to fit handheld hardware.
  • Mechanics: While visually 2D, it incorporates 3D universe features like vehicle-based side missions (Vigilante, Firefighter, Paramedic, Taxi), a variety of weapons, and a mini-map.
  • Visuals & Sound: Due to hardware limits, it uses text-based cutscenes with hand-drawn character faces rather than animated scenes. Vehicles have fixed, repeating musical loops instead of full radio stations.

Story & Setting

  • Plot: You play as Mike, a small-time criminal planning to leave Liberty City with his partner, Vinnie. After Vinnie is supposedly killed in a car bomb, Mike embarks on a quest for revenge that entangles him with various crime syndicates.
  • Returning Characters: The story features familiar faces from GTA III, including 8-Ball, Asuka Kasen, and King Courtney, providing backstory for their later roles.

Key Features

  • Saving: It was the first GTA game to allow players to "quicksave" anywhere on the map via the pause menu.
  • Speedometer: This was the first entry in the series to include an on-screen speedometer for vehicles.
  • Exclusivity: It remains the only GTA title developed specifically as a Nintendo-exclusive handheld game.
