Released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS, Legend of Zelda The Phantom Hourglass is the fourteenth main installment in the series and a direct sequel to the GameCube's The Wind Waker. It is distinguished by its innovative use of the DS's hardware, featuring a control scheme built almost entirely around the handheld's touchscreen and stylus. 

Story and Setting

Set several months after The Wind Waker, Link and Tetra are exploring unknown seas when they encounter a mysterious "Ghost Ship". Tetra is kidnapped after boarding the ship, and Link is washed ashore on a strange island. Assisted by a fairy named Ciela and a reluctant captain named Linebeck, Link sets sail across the World of the Ocean King to rescue her. 

Gameplay Features

• Touchscreen Navigation: Movement and combat are handled through the stylus. Tapping a location makes Link move, while swiping or tapping enemies triggers sword attacks.
• Interactive Maps: Players can pull the game map from the top screen to the bottom to hand-write notes, mark paths for their boat, or plot complex routes for the boomerang.
• Microphone Integration: Certain puzzles and combat encounters require players to blow into or shout at the microphone, such as for extinguishing torches or scaring sound-sensitive enemies.
• The Temple of the Ocean King: A central dungeon that must be revisited throughout the game. It is filled with a life-draining curse that can only be resisted using sand collected for the magical Phantom Hourglass.
• Sailing and Customization: Players travel between 20 different islands using Linebeck’s steamboat, which can be upgraded and customized with found ship parts. 

Multiplayer Mode

The game includes a Battle Mode where two players compete locally or online. One player controls Link to collect Force Gems, while the other controls three nearly-invincible Phantoms to hunt him down.
