Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun is a tactical role-playing game released by Capcom for the Game Boy Advance in 2004. It is the first entry in the series to adopt a two-version release strategy from the start, alongside its counterpart, Blue Moon.
Core Gameplay & Features
The game blends real-time action with deck-building strategy on a grid.
- Soul Unison System: A major addition that replaces the "Style Change" system from previous games. It allows MegaMan to synchronize with the souls of defeated Navis, gaining their unique elemental powers and special abilities for three turns.
- Dark Chips: Powerful but dangerous chips that appear when MegaMan is in a state of "Anxiety". Using them grants massive power but causes permanent HP loss and prevents the use of Soul Unisons.
- Tournament Structure: Unlike the linear story of past games, the narrative centers around three major tournaments: the Den City, Eagle/Hawk, and Red Sun/Blue Moon tournaments.
- New Game+ Progression: To see every story scenario and collect all 12 Soul Unisons (6 per version), players must complete the game at least three times, with each subsequent playthrough increasing the difficulty of enemies and viruses.
Story Synopsis
Set five months after the defeat of Dr. Wily, Lan Hikari and MegaMan.EXE find themselves competing in world-class tournaments. While they battle to prove their skills, a rogue asteroid is discovered heading for Earth. The duo must win the international tournament to be chosen for a mission to enter the asteroid’s cyberworld and divert it, all while fighting off the criminal organization Nebula.
