The Poké Ball Plus is a motion-controlled accessory originally designed for Nintendo Switch, primarily to work with Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! (released in 2018). Here's what it does:
Main Functions
1. Game Controller
- Acts as a substitute for the Joy-Con controller when playing Let's Go, Pikachu/Eevee
- You physically move/flick it to throw Poké Balls at wild Pokémon
- The top button and internal stick let you navigate menus and control character movement
2. Sensory Feedback
- Contains a small rumble motor for haptic feedback (vibrates during battles, catches, etc.)
- Has an LED light that changes colors depending on which Pokémon is inside it or in-game events
- Makes actual Pokémon cries/sounds through a built-in speaker (e.g., it makes Pikachu's sound if Pikachu is stored inside)
3. Carry a Pokémon
- You can transfer one Pokémon from the game into the Poké Ball Plus itself
- The Pokémon "lives" inside it — you can take it with you, and it'll react with sound/light
4. Connects to Pokémon GO
- Syncs with the Pokémon GO mobile app via Bluetooth
- Lets you catch Pokémon, spin PokéStops, and collect items without looking at your phone
- The device vibrates/lights up to notify you of nearby PokéStops or wild Pokémon
- You press the button to catch/interact, similar to the old Pokémon GO Plus device (it includes those functions too)
Summary
It's essentially a hybrid accessory: a motion controller for Switch games, a fun "Pokémon habitat" toy, and a wearable Bluetooth companion for Pokémon GO — all built into a ball-shaped device.
