Released in 1999, Army Men: Sarge's Heroes for the Nintendo 64 is a third-person shooter that brings the childhood fantasy of living plastic army men to life. Players control Sarge, a veteran of the Green Army, as he leads a mission to stop General Plastro and his Tan Army from using "weapons of mass destruction" from the human world, such as magnifying glasses and firecrackers. 

Gameplay Features

• Two Worlds: Missions alternate between "Their World" (the plastic world) and "Our World" (the human world). In the human world, characters are miniature, turning everyday locations like kitchens, sandboxes, and backyards into massive battlegrounds.
• Diverse Arsenal: The game features variations of 13 plastic weapons, including M16 rifles, flamethrowers, grenades, sniper rifles, bazookas, and mine sweepers.
• Squad Rescue: A primary objective is to rescue members of Sarge’s Bravo Company, including Riff (Bazooka Man), Hoover (Mine Sweeper), and Thick (Machine Gunner).
• Multiplayer Mode: Supports split-screen multiplayer for up to four players on the N64, featuring modes like deathmatch and capture the flag.
• Training Mode: Includes a "Boot Camp" practice range to teach players platforming, weapon use, and objective mechanics. 

Character Poses

One of the most notable visual details is that the characters assume classic, authentic army men toy poses when using specific weapons, such as the kneeling marksman or the crawling soldier.
