Dragon Wars is a classic fantasy role-playing game (RPG) developed by Interplay Productions and published by Activision in 1989. Originally conceived as The Bard's Tale IV, the game was rebranded due to licensing constraints, leading to the creation of a new setting and storyline. Despite these changes, Dragon Wars retained many gameplay elements from The Bard's Tale series and incorporated design philosophies from Interplay's earlier title, Wasteland .
