Gyakuten Kenji 2 is the sequel to Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and was first announced in September 2010, showing the return of Edgeworth, Gumshoe and Kay Faraday.

Shelly de Killer, last seen in Phoenix Wright: Justice For All, is also shown to be involved with one of the cases. New characters include a new female judge, Mikagami Hakari, who is intent on ending Edgeworth's career, a new prosecutor, Ichiyanagi Yumihiko, and Shigaraki Tateyuki, a defense attorney who previously worked alongside Gregory Edgeworth.

Additionally a new "Chess Logic" system will be used during play by Edgeworth when interrogating people.
