Harvest Moon 2 GBC is a farming simulation game released for the Game Boy Color in 1999 (Japan) and 2000 (North America). It is the second portable entry in the Story of Seasons (formerly Harvest Moon) series, developed by  Victor Interactive Software and published by Natsume. 

Core Premise and Plot

The player is tasked with restoring an abandoned, decrepit farm outside a village. The mayor has determined that if the farm is not made successful within three years, the land will be converted into an amusement park. At the end of the first year, the mayor evaluates your progress; if it is insufficient, you may be given a final chance to revitalize the land or face a "bad ending". 

Key Features and Gameplay

• Farming and Ranching: Players must clear weeds, rocks, and stumps to plant crops for profit. Livestock includes chickens (eggs), cows (milk), and for the first time in the portable series, sheep (wool).
• Expansion: Players can build a sheep pen, a greenhouse (hothouse) to grow flowers and herbs year-round, and eventually extend the farmhouse.
• Exploration: Unlike the first portable game, players can walk around a full town to interact with villagers, though marriage is not an option in this version.
• Collection and Trading: The game introduced wildlife collection, allowing players to catch specific species of fish and insects to fill picture books in the town library. Collected items can be traded with other copies of the game or Legend of the River King 2 via Link Cable.
• Mini-Games: Players can unlock arcade-style mini-games, such as a mole-whacking game, accessible via the TV in their house.
• Protagonist Choice: Players can choose to play as either a boy or a girl, which slightly affects seed availability and gameplay focus.
