Ishido: The Way of Stones is a tile-based puzzle game released in 1990 by Accolade and developed by Publishing International. Designed by Michael Feinberg, the game challenges players to place stones on a board by matching colors and symbols, drawing inspiration from ancient Eastern aesthetics and philosophies.

🧩 Gameplay Overview

The game board consists of 96 squares (12 columns by 8 rows), and players are given 72 stones, each with a unique combination of one of six colors and one of six symbols, resulting in 36 unique stones, each appearing twice. The objective is to place all 72 stones onto the board. Stones must be placed adjacent to others that they match, either by color or symbol. As the board fills, finding valid placements becomes increasingly challenging.

A particularly valuable move is the "4-way match," where a stone is placed in the midst of four others, matching two by color and two by symbol. Achieving such a move not only yields a higher score but also triggers the game's integrated "Oracle" feature. This unique aspect allows players to pose a question and receive an answer based on the I Ching, the ancient Chinese Book of Changes, adding a layer of mysticism to the gameplay. 

This game has been tested on an original PC and runs flawlessly. Please note that certain games may require installation to the computer’s hard drive in order to function properly. This is often necessary when the game’s size exceeds the 1.44MB capacity of a standard floppy disk or when the game requires additional files and setup that cannot be run directly from the disk.
