Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening DX is an enhanced, colorized re-release of the original 1993 Game Boy title for the Game Boy Advance.

Key Features and Additions

The DX version introduces several significant changes and "Definitive" additions to the original adventure on Koholint Island: 

• Full Color Graphics: The entire world, including sprites and environments, was given a vibrant color palette, moving beyond the original grayscale.
• The Color Dungeon: A hidden, optional dungeon exclusive to this version. It features color-based puzzles and awards Link with either a Red Tunic (increases attack power) or a Blue Tunic (increases defense).
• Photography Side Quest: Players can visit a new Camera Shop and encounter a photographer who takes snapshots of Link during 12 specific in-game events.
• Game Boy Printer Support: These collected photos can be viewed in a photo album or printed as stickers using the Game Boy Printer accessory.
• Bug Fixes and Tweaks: Several glitches from the original, such as the "screen warp" glitch, were patched. Some boss patterns, like the Genie's fireball speed, were also slowed down to adjust difficulty. 

Gameplay Overview

The core story remains the same: Link is shipwrecked on Koholint Island and must wake the Wind Fish to return home by collecting eight magical Instruments of the Sirens from across the island. 

• Perspective: Top-down action-adventure with occasional side-scrolling platforming sections featuring cameos from the Super Mario series (like Goombas and Piranha Plants).
• Inventory: Uses a two-button system where items like the Pegasus Boots, Hook Shot, and Roc's Feather are mapped to the A and B buttons.
• World: Exploration-heavy, requiring new items to unlock access to different regions of the island.
