Pokemon Green for the Nintendo 64! Play this classic on your TV without the need for any additional hardware or accessories.

This cartridge also comes with some amazing built in features.

Press Down C to instantly save your game, then press and hold Up C to load the game.

My personal favorite new feature, is the ability to hold down Right C, and enable fast forward!

IMPORTANT - Make sure to not press Down C while in the menu. Only save when the game file has been loaded, and the main menu IS NOT OPEN.

Pokémon Green (originally titled Pocket Monsters Midori) is one of the two inaugural games in the Pokémon franchise, released alongside Pokémon Red in Japan on February 27, 1996. While it is a foundational entry in the series, it was never officially released outside of Japan in its original form, however this is a full English translation!

The Game: Pokémon Green Version

  • Release & Origin: Developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the original Game Boy. It features Venusaur as its mascot.
  • The "Lost" Version: When Pokémon was localized for the West in 1998, Nintendo used the updated code and improved graphics from the Japanese-only Pokémon Blue (a special edition) to create the international Red and Blue versions. Consequently, the international Pokémon Blue contains the wild Pokémon data originally found in the Japanese Pokémon Green.
  • Legacy & Remakes: The game was officially remade for the Game Boy Advance in 2004 as Pokémon LeafGreen. Because of its "mysterious" status in the West, many English-translated "Green" cartridges found online are actually pirated bootlegs or fan-made ROM hacks.

The Character: Green

"Green" also refers to a specific human character within the Pokémon universe, though her name and role vary by media:

  • In-Game (Let's Go, Pikachu! & Eevee!): A powerful NPC trainer encountered in Cerulean Cave after the player catches Mewtwo. She is described as energetic and determined, with a signature outfit consisting of a sleeveless black dress with cyan accents, cyan shorts, and a yellow purse. For more details on her in-game lore, you can visit the Pokemon Wiki.
  • Manga (Pokémon Adventures): Known as Blue in Japan and Green in the West, she is a main protagonist and a "Pokédex Holder". She was originally a clever thief who stole a Squirtle from Professor Oak. Detailed history of this counterpart can be found on Bulbapedia.
  • Naming Confusion: In Japan, the rival character (Gary in the anime) is named Green, while the female character is named Blue. These names were swapped in Western localizations to match the Red/Blue game pairings.
