Pokemon Obscure GBC Video Game Gameboy Color ROM Hack
Pokemon Obscure is an extremely obscure GBC ROM hack, often found on bootleg cartridges, featuring surreal gameplay where the player character is a human nose. It is noted for having custom maps and at least one unique, custom-created Pokémon. Information is sparse, making it a true rarity in the scene.
Key Known Features of Pokemon Obscure:
- Unique Protagonist: You play as a human nose, not a traditional trainer.
- Custom Maps: The game features custom-designed maps rather than standard Kanto/Johto layouts.
- Custom Pokemon: Reports suggest the inclusion of custom fakemon.
- Extremely Obscure: Very limited documentation exists, making it difficult to find, often discovered on physical, bootleg GBA cartridges.
- Surreal Experience: It is known for its strange, non-traditional narrative and design.
You know why I'm telling you not to panic?
It's because the main character is a nose.
And not only that, but
Your rival is a pig. And I do mean a pig. Do you need better proof?
It's your typical Pokemon music, and your typical garden variety Pokemon sounds. = I'm glad the music did not change, as it didn't take away from the experience at all.
You are a nose. Your rival is a pig. There's something else...
Oh, right, we need to go see Jesus.
Wait... why do we need to go see Jesus?
Apparently to get a Magic shoe... I see...
And our main goal I guess is to embark on a journey to turn ourselves back into a human.
How do we do that?
By beating the game of course. You know, elite 4 and all that jazz.
Here's the thing. See this gym? It's not a gym anymore. It's a Jim. And it's redesigned from the original gym.
A picture says a thousand words...
He's trying to sell me an Ex-Soviet Anti-Air Tank. For 1,000,000 dollars.
The game itself is not hard. Nothing you do will make it hard. The hardest part unfortunately hurts the game.
This is the one knock I've had on it to this point.
The ledges are too often. There will be points where you will need to reload a past save if you are not careful.
Aside from that though, as long as you frequently save, you will be fine.
There's a lot of custom edits, and the game isn't stale like so many other hacks are. The creator truly got what kids like. Crude randomosity, without being too vulgar and rude.
This game has plenty of that. This game was overall what most hacks should try to be. Fun. Rather than just stupid.
