Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is a 1999 enhanced remake of the 1985 NES classic Super Mario Bros, developed for the Game Boy Color. It includes a faithful, "pixel-perfect" port of the original game along with a massive amount of new content, including an unlockable version of the 1986 Japanese sequel, The Lost Levels.

Key Game Features

• Original 1985 Mode: Features all 32 original levels of the NES classic.
• Challenge Mode: A score-attack mode where players revisit levels to collect five hidden Red Coins, find a hidden Yoshi Egg, and reach a high-score goal.
• You VS. Boo: An unlockable mode where you race against a Boo across eight modified courses. Boo can pass through walls, and players use "Face Blocks" to toggle obstacles.
• VS. Game: A two-player competitive racing mode using the Game Boy Link Cable.
• Toy Box & Mystery Room: Includes a variety of extras like a built-in calendar, a fortune teller, a world map, and a "Photo Album" that fills up as you complete achievements.
• Save System: Unlike the original NES version, this port includes battery-backed memory with three save slots, allowing players to save their progress at any time. 

Technical Differences & Changes

• Screen Resolution: Because the Game Boy Color has a smaller screen than the NES, the view is zoomed in ("screen crunch"). To compensate, players can use the D-pad to scroll the camera up or down.
• Enhanced Visuals/Audio: Includes animated water and lava, talking animations for Princess Peach, and updated palettes for Luigi and Fire Luigi to distinguish them from Mario.
• Bug Fixes: Many original glitches, such as the famous "Minus World," were removed.
• Game Boy Printer Support: Players can print out special stickers, banners, and photos from their album using the Game Boy Printer.
