Gameboy Advance non oem reproduction Sword of Mana video game cartridge. Game cartridge comes with a plastic protective case.

Sword of Mana is an action role-playing game for the Game Boy Advance that serves as an enhanced remake of the 1991 Game Boy title Final Fantasy Adventure. It was co-developed by Square Enix and Brownie Brown.

Core Story & Characters

The game centers on the legend of the Mana Tree, the source of all life, and a goddess who transformed herself to protect it.

  • Dual Protagonists: Players choose to play as either the Hero, a gladiator seeking to avenge his parents, or the Heroine, a young woman from the Mana Clan with deep ties to the goddess.
  • Parallel Narratives: While the main plot remains the same, the perspective, dialogue, and certain exclusive scenes change based on your choice.
  • Conflict: You must stop the Dark Lord of the Granz Realm and the sorcerer Julius from seizing the power of the Mana Tree.

Gameplay Mechanics

  • Real-Time Combat: Similar to The Legend of Zelda, battles happen on the main field rather than in separate turn-based menus.
  • Ring Command System: Borrowed from Secret of Mana, this circular menu allows you to quickly swap weapons and magic during combat.
  • Deep Customization:
    • Class System: Every time you level up, you can choose from classes like Warrior, Sage, or Thief to mold your stats.
    • Elemental Spirits: You can call upon eight different spirits (like Salamander for fire or Wisp for healing) to cast offensive and support spells.
  • Enhanced Features: The game includes a day-and-night system where specific monsters appear only at certain times, and a "Hot House" for forging weapons and planting produce.

Performance & Reception

  • Visuals & Sound: Reviewers from RPG Site and Old Game Hermit praised the "magical" 2D graphics and updated soundtrack, though some found the AI partners and menus cumbersome.
  • Playtime: A typical playthrough lasts between 20 and 25 hours, though sidequests and playing as both characters can double that time.
