Nintendo DS non oem reprodction The World Ends With You video game cartridge. Game cartridge comes with a plastic protective case.

The World Ends With You (TWEWY) for the Nintendo DS is a stylized action-RPG set in a fictionalized version of Tokyo's Shibuya district. Released in 2007, the game is celebrated for its unique dual-screen combat, modern urban aesthetic, and deep integration of Japanese youth culture.

Story & Setting

Players control Neku Sakuraba, an asocial 15-year-old who wakes up in Shibuya with no memory and is forced to compete in the Reapers' Game.

  • The Reapers' Game: A week-long survival competition held in the "Underground" (UG), an alternate plane of existence.
  • The Stake: Players must complete daily missions sent via text message to their cell phones; failure results in "erasure" from existence.
  • Themes: The narrative explores themes of friendship, expanding one's horizons, and overcoming trauma.

Unique Gameplay Mechanics

The DS version is famous for its Stride-Cross Battle System, which utilizes nearly every feature of the handheld.

  • Dual-Screen Combat: Battles happen simultaneously on both screens. You control Neku on the bottom screen using the styl stylus and his partner on the top screen using the D-pad (or face buttons).
  • Psych Pins: Neku uses collectible "pins" to unleash psychic powers. Different attacks are triggered by specific touch gestures (slashing, tapping, or circling) or by shouting into the DS microphone.
  • Fashion & Trends: Character stats are influenced by Shibuya's changing fashion trends. Wearing popular brands in certain districts provides combat boosts, while being "out of style" can hinder performance.
  • Risk vs. Reward: Players can manually lower their level at any time to increase the drop rate of rare pins from enemies.

Visuals and Sound

  • Art Style: Features a distinctive "urban grit" and graffiti-inspired look designed by a team led by Tetsuya Nomura (of Kingdom Hearts fame).
  • Soundtrack: A highly praised fusion of hip-hop, rock, and techno composed by Takeharu Ishimoto, which is considered one of the best on the platform.

Multiplayer and Extra Content

  • Tin Pin Slammer: A marble-like mini-game where up to four players can battle wirelessly.
  • Mingle Mode: A "Chance Encounter" mode that lets you trade data and gain experience by wirelessly connecting to other DS systems in the real world.
